Amber House Cancellation/Curtailment Scheme
Please note that this is not a policy underwritten by one of
the
country's major underwriters. It is a small in-house scheme, intended
to
give you and us peace of mind regarding your booking. Where
there
is significant
cost involved in your holiday and /or you book a good time
ahead
of the holiday date we strongly advise you to take out insurance or
join the Amber House Cancellation/Curtailment Scheme.
Terms and Conditions of the Amber House Cancellation / Curtailment
Scheme
Costs
£1 per £50 of holiday cost. Where the cost is over an exact
amount
divisible by £50, the remainder will also be charged at £1 eg. A
holiday
costing £250 will be cost £5: a holiday with a value of £279 will
cost £6 on the Amber House Scheme.
Cover, Limits and Exclusions
Limit
The cover is for the whole amount of the cost of the holiday
including
the deposit and covers all people booked on the holiday less the
non-recoverable charges described below.
Non-Recoverable Charges
- There will be an administration charge of £10 per booking
which
will be deducted from any refund due.
- Where a booking has been made through the Eviivo on-line
booking
system, their charge for taking the booking is non-recoverable and is
usually the amount of payment taken at the time of the booking.
- Where you have paid by credit card a charge to cover a cost
of
taking the payment(s) will be 3%of the total taken on credit card and a
flat rate of £1.25 per transaction on debit cards.
- No refund is due for the cost of joining the Amber House
Cancellation/Curtailment Scheme.
- The refund of monies due is for the holiday cost only. Any
consequential loss arising from cancellation/curtailment is not covered
under this scheme eg the cost of rail fares.
Cover is for cancellation/curtailment for the following
reasons:
- The death, injury or serious/infectious illness (Claim to
be
supported by relevant documentation from GP or hospital) of:
- Any person booked on the holiday covered by the Amber
House
Cancellation/Curtailment Scheme (hereafter referred to as AHCCS)
- A close family member of anyone covered by the ACCCS.
- The jury service or attendance under subpoena as a witness
at a
court of law of any person booked under the AHCCS.
- Unforeseen occupational posting of any person who is a
member of
the armed forces and booked on the AHCCS.
- Fire, storm or flood damage that occurs to the home of any
person
booked on the AHCCS when that damage occurs within 10 days of the
commencement of the holiday or during the holiday and their presence is
required by the police or insurers.
- The imminent death, death or serious illness of a
family-owned
animal that has been left at a kennels/cattery/livery stables or for
whom similar arrangement have been made for their care. Dogs holidaying
at Amber House will also be covered. (Claim to be supported by
veterinarian documentation).
- Where anyone covered by the AHCCS has a long-term chronic
condition - for example including but not restricted to arthritis or a
heart
condition - which is under control through prescribed medication or
lifestyle changes, then cover is provided if an exacerbation of the
condition occurs which necessitates attendance by a medical
practitioner who then advises that the exacerbation is of such severity
that holidaying would be contra-indicated or for guests already staying
at Amber House that curtailment of the holiday would be advisable.
(Medical Documentation is required).
Exclusions
No refund will be given for:
- A change of mind due to inclement weather.
- A change of mind for any other reason.
- Disharmony with family, partner or travelling companion.
- Emotional family crisis of people booked on the holiday or
related to those booked on the holiday where the crisis is of an
emotional nature and does not involve serious physical injury or
illness.
- Illness due to self-harm or usage of illegal recreational
drugs.
- Minor illnesses including but not restricted to common
cold,
cough etc.
- Minor illnesses of a long-standing or non-serious nature.
- Cancellation due to attendance at hospital for operation,
treatment or investigation where you were aware at the time of booking
that you are on a waiting list.
- You being asked to leave Amber House as you, a member of
your
party or a dog that is accompanying you, have by their unacceptable
behaviour, contravened the terms and conditions of booking of Amber
House as described in the Terms & Conditions.
