AMBER HOUSE BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These
booking terms apply to AMBER HOUSE (also referred to as We, Us, Our,The
Establishment) and the person making the booking (You, Your, The Guest). If
You decide to book by Our third party on-line booking system You will
be required to read the terms of booking on the on-line system which
differs slightly from bookings made through AMBER HOUSE directly.
9 CANCELLATION
9.1 We would like to remind Our Guests that a booking for accommodation is a legally binding contract. Once the booking is confirmed You are responsible for the total cost
of the holiday. We do not expect you are able to afford to pay for a
holiday You are unable to take, neither can We afford the loss that
Your failure to take up a booking may cause Us. If
You were forced to cancel Your holiday We would make every effort to
re-let Your room/s but should We not succeed We reserve the right to
levy a cancellation charge to cover our loss which would be equal to
the total cost of nights not re-booked less any payment or deposit
already made. In any event You would loose your deposit. We therefore
strongly advise Our Guests, especially those who book for long stays or
those who book a long time before the commencement of the holiday, to
consider holiday cancellation insurance.
9.2 We require guests to read the information in below entitled Why you need to cover cancellation/Curtailment of
WHY YOU NEED TO COVER CANCELLATION/CURTAILMENT OF
Making a reservation is entering into a legally binding contract. You must be 18 to make a reservation.
To
appreciate the implication of cancellation on our business, I give you
the following example. We have only rooms (8 doubles and 2 singles) and
if someone has a booking of two double rooms for a week and cancels at
short notice we would lose 22% of our income for that week. That is a
significant shortfall. I would draw your attention to the following
paragraph taken from our booking terms and conditions:
“Once the booking is confirmed You are responsible for the total cost
of the holiday.
In any event You would loose your deposit.”
Many hotels and guest accommodation now encourage, or make it a condition of booking, that you take out insurance with your booking – just as when you book a holiday abroad your travel agent will expect you to take out holiday insurance.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SECTION ON CANCELLATION.
YOUR ACTION IS REQUIRED.
IF YOU HAVE NOT
ALREADY DONE SO, WE REQUIRE YOU TO LET US KNOW WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING THREE
OPTIONS YOU WISH TO CHOOSE REGARDING CANCELLATION/CURTAILMENT.
CANCELLATION/CURTAILMENT OPTIONS
For your peace of mind and to protect our business we need you to do one
of the following:
1) Agree to
the Amber House Cancellation Scheme and to the appropriate charge for the
scheme Fee to be added to your account eg. A holiday of a week’s duration
costing £224 would cost £5 in Cancellation Scheme Fees. The cost will be
debited from your account at the same time as payment of the deposit. The cost
is competitive and will also provide cover for those who would not be insurable
under some Underwriters’ policies. FOR DETAILS OF THE AMBER HOUSE CANCELLATION/CURTAILMENT
SCHEME PLEASE CLICL ON AMBER HOUSE CANCELLATION SCHEME ON THE ROOM RATE PAGE.
2) Take out
cancellation Insurance with a company such as www.travel.schofields.ltd.uk
or www.tpstravelinsurance.com or other companies that offer
3) Agree
that you have read the conditions relating to the booking and the cancellation
policy and that you understand that if you should cancel your holiday FOR
WHATEVER REASON then you will be
charged for any nights of your cancelled holiday that we are unable to re-let.
It’s a gamble but the choice is yours! You could incur significant costs and
remember it is always the unforeseeable events that cause people to cancel. If
a close family member becomes too ill to travel, or dies, you have to go to into
hospital, or the dog is in a car accident or you are flooded out etc etc - we
do empathise but we are entitled by law to charge you for any nights your room
remains un-let.
Please decide which of the above options you wish to choose and let us
know, if you haven’t already done so. If you decide on option 2 then we will
require the policy number within 48 hours of booking.
